EXITING NEW FUTURE FOR SHAPLA

Published: 05/20/2010

Spice Tandoori Group from Elgin has just taken over the Shapla restaurant in Inverness.

The Company is one of the few in the trade to gain progress in this hard recession.  Where trading outlets have been closing the company has successfully opened another 4 in the last year( with plenty more in their sights)  This in turn has lead to a boost in local economies creating and securing jobs.  The company currently operate four sites under Spice Tandoori and hope to open a further three or four this year.  The directors, Mobarok Ali (Father) and Mojahid Ali (Son) also operates eight other sites all throughout Scotland all base in the north from Wick to Fort William and back up to Nairn where it all began.

Mojahid says “We have been keen to secure a site in Inverness for some time now and we feel this is an ideal opportunity.  Shapla has had a bit of a chequered history but we feel under the Spice Tandoori umprella it can be turned around and we are all very excited for its future. We shall be looking to create jobs from local sectors and work very close with local authorities to bring the site up to standard.”

The premises have previously been run as traditional Indian however as Mojahid states “we are planning to extend the restaurant to around 130 seats with downstairs “Meeting Point” lounge and our style and quality of food is trying to cater for all tastes.
