The Kent Restaurant Awards in Association with OrderOnlineNow.co.uk – the online restaurant booking and takeaway ordering system – have announced the six finalists in the Best Indian restaurant category.

The Awards have now moved on the judging phases where a panel of respected independent food critics and journalists will visit each of the finalists and evaluate restaurants according to certain criteria.

Marks out of a 100 will be awarded according to quality of the cooking (up to 50), service (20), ambience (10), use of local produce (10) and support of sustainable farming practices (10).

Five Indian restaurants are nominated for Best Takeaway: Prince of India – Faversham, Rajver Indian Restaurant – Biddenden, and Spice Indian Restaurant - Tunbridge Wells and Zarin Indian Restaurant – Ashford.

The winners will be honoured at a glittering black tie dinner being held at Ashford International Hotel on Thursday 28th January.

Commenting on the proliferation of finalists drawn from Faversham, Event Director George Shaw said; “Intense local competition from the town’s Indian restaurants appears to have driven up standards.

“With three of the six finalists on their doorstep, Faversham’s inhabitants certainly seem to love their curry,” he said.
