Prince of India’s Ethical Good Food Award

Faversham’s Prince of India restaurant has received the acclaimed Ethical Good Food Award for 2009 for Best Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant.

The Ethical Good Food Awards, instituted by Customer Associations to promote better business ethics, excellence in service, and recognise small independent restaurants and food retailers.

“We also recognise personalities within these categories and aim to recognise and inspire local food businesses and also to encourage their ethical conduct,” said awards organiser Steve Harrison.

The award was presented by Faversham Mayor, Ted Wilcox at spectacular sell out music tribute night hosted by Prince of India in the town’s Alexander Centre. Top tribute acts performed the songs of Barry White, Louis Armstrong, Robbie Williams, Stevie Wonder, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

The Prince of India, owned by Raj Abdin, has also been short-listed in two categories in the Kent Restaurant Awards (Best Indian Restaurant and Best Take Away), being held at Ashford International Hotel on 28th January.

“It’s a great honour to have one’s commitment to the environment and society in general, recognised by this award,” said Abdin.

The Prince of India first opened its doors in December 2006, quickly carving a reputation for authentic, high quality Indian cuisine. Run by a partnership of two experts in their chosen fields, the Prince of India prides itself in using only the highest quality ingredients with a service to match. Award-winning Chef Shahjahan Ahmed, poached from one of Canary Wharf’s top restaurants, adds his unique flare to the menu. Juanad ‘Raj’ Abdin provides the restaurants personality, bringing 10 years’ experience of running successful Indian restaurants. Prince of India’s menu includes a number of authentic Bangladeshi fish recipes such as the Bowal in its Fish Bhuna, Chital Kofta minced fish balls, Roopchanda Ocean and has a number of scallop, squid, trout and salmon options plus its signature dish, the Prince of India Sea Food Safari – an infusion of scallops, squid, king prawn marinated and cooked in Bhuna spices.

The restaurant has Monday and Thursday night banquets for £9.95

The restaurant delivers to Faversham, Boughton, Painter Forstal, Selling, Oare, Dunkirk and Luddenham. Delivery is free within 3-mile radius on orders over £13. There is a 10% discount on orders over £13. All take-away orders receive free papadum and chutney. A free side dish is added to orders exceeding £25 a free bottle of wine is given on all takeaways over £40. Open 7 days a week, 12.00 to 02.30 and 17.30 to 23.00.
