Founded by the British in 1851 as a Himalayan hill station, Murree provided a welcome retreat from the hot plains of the Punjab, and is nowadays Kashmir's contender for the location of the legendary Shangri-la, representing a perfect paradise in our life-long quest for love, happiness and utopian ideals.
